As World University & School's wiki grows potentially in all languages and countries, with individuals teaching and learning at youtube.com, other video hosting sites (as both educational content and archive), in digitally creative ways, in virtual worlds, and in group video chats, WUaS will develop the following information technology and data management plan.

World University and School's Information Technologies and Data Plan

(Master Plan - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Master_Plan)

- Wiki (editable web pages, like Wikipedia), to integrate great universities' open educational resources, especially MIT OCW's, as well as facilitate people-to-people teaching and learning.

- Use the newly developing WikiData (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikidata) for the 'back end,' and WikiBase (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Wikibase_Client) for the 'front end,' of the World University and School wiki; WUaS will probably become 'an instance of Wikibase.'

- Find, or build, a wiki 'front end' especially with output to a small, 2x3 inch screen, as wiki, on 'obscure' internet phone browsers (e.g. like Palm OS, etc.), with UniCode, for the developing world and in symbols from all 205+ countries and in 3000-8000+ languages, - given the benefits of wiki in terms of openness and group knowledge production, especially in the developing world. (Wikipedia is in around 285 languages, by way of comparison).

- Possibly use MediaWiki (e.g. Wikipedia), but it doesn't work well on handhelds. Possibly use SemanticWiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_MediaWiki) with MediaWiki.

- For the 'You at WUaS' main page - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/You_at_World_University - use Quickbooks for Nonprofits to start as the 'backend,' and to manage communications, donor support, and to pay interns, and eventually as 'secure registrar,' for grades and transcripts (developing this as needed), and then add other Intuit software (see http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/accounting-software/nonprofit-accounting-software/) to develop the Bookstore and used/new Computer store (http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Bookstore_/_Computer_Store_%28New_%26_Used%29_at_WUaS). Quickbooks is probably in many countries and currencies already. Integrate this database with WUaS's 'instance of Wikibase' ... and with MIT?

- Bookmarking information technology to add resources for this new handheld wiki for obscure mobile browsers?

And WUaS would like to include these goals:

- plan for Android / iPhone / Connect / smart phone mobile internet devices with video, as well as tablets, and for VOICE and group text chat for the Conference Method especially on handheld internet phones with browsers - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning - for teaching and learning, as the bare minimum hardware to begin to study for a MIT OCW-centric Bachelor's degree (perhaps for the first semester of an 8 semester Bachelor degree program).

- prioritize for DESIGN (like Apple has) & robust information technological development in hiring, as we aim for possibly 2-5 billion Universitians on the SCHOOL idea-social network side of WUaS, and for around at least 2000 (and scalable) undergraduate students (e.g. http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/The_College_at_World_University_and_School) on the UNIVERSITY, free, degree-granting side, first matriculating in 2014, with MIT OCW for course curriculum (32 15 week MIT OCW courses over 4 years).

- WUaS, Wiki, Universal Translator, building on Google Translate, Sugar Labs' Translate, and other language translation projects.

- plan for 8000 languages, plus so-called 'dead' languages, invented languages, and make this wiki-extensible beyond, with UniCode +.

- plan for 10,000-100,000 musical instruments, in text and voice, in all languages, and wiki-extensible beyond this for WUaS's Music School - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Music_School.

- plan with OBJECT TEMPLATE - like http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - to be able to add individual archaeological and museum objects

- httpS:// for "secure registrar" for 3000-8000 languages - here's one example from wikimedia of secure wiki - https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Nontheist_Friend - perhaps building on QuickBooks for NonProfits.

- Make WUaS an advertisement-free wiki

- .edu suffix (educational domain names network together and have advantages) in 2018, upon accreditation.

- e.g. www.worlduniversityandschool.edu = and = www.wuas.edu, eventually, upon accreditation at stage 3, after the first Bachelor's degree class graduates in 2018.

- Develop a robust Computer Science department (subject), - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Computer_Science - whose graduates and students will eventually develop WUaS.

- Make WUaS very easy-to-use

- Make WUaS very attractive, in order to grow community easily

- Use fast computer servers and bandwidth

- multiple email lists, in all languages

- plan to develop html code for assistive technologies, from the beginning, and as the internet develops (http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Assistive_Technologies) ...

- design the upcoming WUaS MediaWiki with 18+ year olds and 2014, incoming, MIT-like undergraduate students.

- plan eventually for brainwave devices / headsets, and a range of other emergent remarkable information technologies, and innovate with these technologies, as the world-class World Unviersity and School develops. Develop these hardwares eventually, as well.

World University and School would like to partner with MIT OCW, Yale OYC and other, great universities, for university academic standards and open course ware, and sharing of resources.

Years 2011 - 2012

Technological goals:

- Database of open Teaching and Learning Materials, in all 7,413 languages; anyone may teach to their web camera in this open wiki. Information technologies here include human minds. Anyone may teach to and learn, in real time, in a virtual world, like Second Life, using the wiki-like Google calendar, for example.

- Video capable hand held computer devices (e.g. OLPC and mobile computer devices - with robust video bandwidth and infrastructure in OLPC countries, and everywhere).

- Translation between all languages. Build on Google Translate + for translation? Be able to add Languages wiki-like. Hire coders to do this.

- WUaS ability to provide high bandwidth infrastructure for OLPC countries, and well as printable materials.

- a filter for all free, online educational services; While WUaS has a great universities' OER focus, WUaS is wiki-addable for, for example, a comprehensive and updated database of available courses and individuals who are willing to teach or mentor; a metadirectory for free, open courses, courseware and OER and in all 7413 languages and at least 205 countries; WUaS is course-centric. WUaS has a specific focus on this wiki list of great universities' ocw and oer at present - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Courses#University_course_listings - as a robust program.

- a program to 'SUBJECT TEMPLATE-ize' - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - and thereby MIT OCW-ize, Yale-ize, and OpenCourseWare-ize potentially any Wikipedia entry, and in any language. (This is all potentially mind-expanding :).

(- Semantic Wiki? - http://www.technologyreview.com/web/25728/?a=f ? What interface, and how much can people add? Wikipedia is remarkable because of its community.)

Outputs:

Laptop/Desktop: One Laptop per Child size screen (6x4 inches), capable of virtual worlds like Second Life, and all related technologies as they develop, and streaming video; web pages - markup languages, what people create and do with this, etc.

Mobile: Handheld size screen (3x2 inches); NY Times' mobile format, with video, and translation of this, as video broadband develops

Televsion: ubiquitous around the world

Printer: Printable teaching and learning materials from World University & School for OLPC countries, and everyone, from OLPC and hand held devices.

New Technologies:

Engage, and help to generate, new technological developments (partnering with MIT?) robustly, as they emerge.

Budget robustly for technological innovation and experimentation.

Become the low cost worldwide provider of internet access, focusing on the OLPC countries.

Technological specifics

UTF-8 for all possible symbols in all 3,000-8,000 languages and musical notation, as well as symbolic/mathematical (LaTeX), etc.

database for 10,000-100,000 musical instruments, and extensible beyond?

universal translator - Google Translate to 3000-8000 language with sound possibilities

Secure - SSL - secure socket layer especially for searches, and, in general, as it grows

50 years out?
