Podcasting, at its most simplest, is an alternative media for citizens to deliver aural and video texts to glocal audiences. One of podcasting's merits is that all people with access to basic recording tools and software can create, edit, and upload any thought, idea, or observation in minutes. This example of alternative media can function as a way to promote freedom of speech to citizens who may feel voiceless and have those newfound voices heard across geopolitical boarders and social classes. However, like all media--mainstream and alternative--a dominant power structure is in place.
